A folder inserter feeds your paper, folds it, puts it in the envelope, and seals it. The FP FPi line we carry runs from 1,350 to 4,300 envelopes an hour. The right one comes down to how much you mail, how many pages go in each envelope, and how sensitive the mail is.
What the machine does
You load the documents and envelopes and press start. Our FPi 700 and FPi 2700 pages put each at roughly ten times faster than folding and stuffing by hand. For an office that sends invoices, statements, or notices every month, that is staff time back.
Start with volume
Here is the hourly top speed of each model we list:
- FPi 700: up to 1,350 envelopes an hour.
- FPi 2700: up to 2,500.
- FPi 4800: up to 3,800.
- FPi 5700: up to 4,000.
- FPi 6700: up to 4,300.
Those are top speeds. Size for your biggest regular run, not your quietest week.
Count the pages per envelope
The FPi 700 folds up to five sheets at once, in C, V, Double-V, or no-fold for insert-only jobs. The FPi 2700 uses a knife fold for up to 8 sheets. The FPi 4800, 5700, and 6700 fold up to 10 sheets (the 4800 does 8 for C or Z folds). If your statements run long, this matters more than speed.
Look at the feeders
Feeders decide how many different pieces can go into one envelope. The FPi 700 has two sheet feeders and an insert feeder, at 100 sheets each and 200 when linked. The FPi 2700 and 4800 gather, collate, and line up different documents before folding, so a letter, an invoice, and a reply envelope can travel together. The FPi 5700 takes up to 7 feed stations and the FPi 6700 up to 8.
Sensitive mail needs checks
Every model in the line has double feed detection, which measures the thickness and length of what is in each feeder so the right documents land in the right envelope. The FPi 2700 and 4800 offer optional barcode and OMR reading, and on the 4800 that covers 1D and 2D barcodes, to check document integrity. We point the FPi 5700 and 6700 at healthcare, law firms, education, collections, and government offices, where a wrong page in the wrong envelope is a real problem.
Pair it with a postage meter
FP pairs its folder inserters with PostBase postage meters. The folder inserter folds, inserts, and seals, and the meter prints the postage, so printed paper comes out as finished mail.
